Oakendell Community School is located on the property providing the residents with the continuity of support needed to ensure their success.  The school is operated by the Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE), working collaboratively with Oakendell and led by a CCOE teacher.

 

The teacher and school aide attend Oakendell staff meetings so that  they can support the residents’ treatment goals in the classroom.  Oakendell staff are often in the classroom to ensure success for the residents, both in meeting their treatment goals and educational goals.

 

Due to their trauma histories, some of our residents have had very little success in school prior to their arrival at Oakendell.  As they begin to heal, a new relationship with learning develops, resulting in many of them becoming successful in school for the first time.
